Speaking to RED Interiors
We asked Ashleigh from Red Interiors to share her knowledge for furnishing your new house and what is currently trending in the interiors world.
We have included a few images of the Show Home at Ardnavalley, Comber that Ashleigh worked on for us.
What are the biggest current colour trends for 2018?
"Mint green, hints of Blush & copper! My favourite has to be the dark, moody interiors making a big come back. Violet, navy and lush emerald green have all been strong this year. To be fair, I have always been a lover of colour, so no matter what the current trend is, I will make sure to have at least one signature colour in there. This is aided of course with our library of gorgeous fabric and wallpaper books full of many on trend colours and designs."
How do you make use of a difficult space?
“One
of my most recent projects, with Lagan Homes, I must say I
didn't really come up against that challenge as their house had such fantastic
large, bright rooms. Not something you see in every development these
days. The house had a good flow and fantastic storage which again is
usually compromised to fit in more rooms! I suppose getting back to
the question, I look at the entirety of the project/space and brainstorm its
most functional use and go from there.”
What are the trends for soft furnishings? Where do you source them?
“Lush velvet's, darker wood tones, parquet details are all up there for furniture must haves.”
What is your personal signature style?
“I am an eclectic mix! I love things old and new, vintage pieces with a modern twist. And Art...I always have to have Art on the walls otherwise it feels unfinished. I tend to fall in love with something and have to work around it, that becomes my starting point. Be it a fabric, cushion or piece of Art...there is always something I just have to have and that's where it all begins.....I guess it helps that I am a shopaholic!”
Where do you find your inspiration?
“When I have a blank canvas, like the recent show home for Lagan Homes, I tend to start with a fabric or wallpaper, that I have been dying to use, and flow from that. I always bear in mind that show homes have to capture a wide variety of purchasers but I do love to push the boat out slightly with colour and pattern, as I feel that's what people are attracted to but easily shy away from when it comes to doing it themselves. The key is to balance your colour choices with the right accessories!”
Thanks again to Ashleigh for taking the time to speak to us and sharing her knowledge.
The show home is open on Sunday's 2-4 pm if you fancy a nosey round.
